Humble Beginning
The Man who was called by the whole town of Nagapattinam as Anna - known in the whole district of East Thanjavur as Sivakavi Iyer - was born as the son of Sri. Venkatrama Iyer and Smt. Karakshi in 1912 in Chithamur, South Arcot district in 1912.
The Lady who the town of Nagapattinam, in their affection and love, called as Manni - the lady who supported Sivakavi Iyer in his business and Social Service ventures - was born as the daughter of Sri. Pattabirama Iyer and Smt. Seethalakshmi in Kulathur, South Arcot district.
Rise to Fame
Armed with a ninth rank in the combined states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the School Finals, Sivakavi Iyer started his career as a Commercial Instructor in Thiruvarur Board High School. With his hard work, honesty, perseverance and with the support of his best friend Sri. R. Dandabani Chettiar, Sivakavi Iyer rose to be a successful man. His cinema house made of tent, had the reputation of screening the movie 'Sivakavi' for 6 months which got him his nickname "Sivakavi".
Selfless Service
As he rose to fame, he almost devoted his whole day to Social service activities in various capacities. Some of his accomplishments include but not limited to:
District board member - Apart from being responsible for High School in Kilvelur, Boat building facilities in Nagapattinam, TB hospital in Nagapattinam , he played a key role in linking Thanjavur and South Arcot district by the Kollidam bridge.
Active and one of the very few Rotary members with 100 percent attendance - Through his ceaseless efforts to help the community, he earned the coveted award of "Paul Harris Fellow".
Education - As district board member and Municipal counsellor of Nagapattinam and office bearer of executive committees of ADM College and National High School, Nagapattinam, has streamlined the day to day activities of these institutions. Even two weeks before his death at the age of 94, he was still very actively managing all the schools associated with National School, Nagapattinam as Correspondent.

What we are doing is a drop in the ocean compared to the immense contributions of Sivakavi Iyer and Jayalakshmi to their family, society and to this world. We remember these noble souls and seek their blessings in continuing this humble service.
